MISSISSIPPI (WDAM) - Off-site employee health screenings cost companies thousands of dollars in both time and money. To help alleviate the difficulty of taking employees away from the office or off the job site for these services, Merit Health Wesley's Work Well department can now meet businesses at their doorstep, providing many of these services with its new Mobile Unit, according to a news release from Merit Health.
Designed to accommodate everything from full-spectrum health screenings to physicals and medical surveillance, the Merit Health Work Well Mobile Unit offers individualized services, tailor-made to fit the unique healthcare requirements of each business needing employee healthcare services. Under the leadership of Stephen Beam, M.D., and Nurse Practitioner, Tracy Hennessey, the unit uses the resources of Merit Health Wesley to offer the wide range of services.
"Our mobile unit is equipped to offer almost every service that is available through our office," said Stephen Beam, M.D. in an issued statement. "We're able to save our clients travel time and expense as well as lessen the burden of coordinating multiple services for employees."
Mobile Unit Services include but are not limited to:
• Specialty exams for firefighters, police and military
• Pulmonary function testing
• Respirator fit testing
• Executive health physicals
• Pre-employment physicals
• Medical surveillance
• Urine, drug and alcohol screenings
• Random selection services
• DOT physicals
• Vaccinations and communicable disease clearance
• Hearing conservation program
• OSHA medical compliance
One of the major benefits of the mobile unit is the ability to serve a larger population, reaching communities around the state and even across state lines, according to the news release.
"We are proud that, for 25 years, we've been able to provide services to companies right here in the Pine Belt" said Beam in an issued statement. "But we are now excited to reach outside of the Hattiesburg area and provide much-needed assistance across the state and even outside of Mississippi."
