HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church held the annual Irish-Italian parade Saturday morning.
Friends and family gathered around to watch floats, catch beads and stand in a crowd full of green. Several organizations marched in the parade like high school bands, local animal shelters and people from St. Fabian church. This is the 14th year the church has hosted the parade with the accompanying festival with planning beginning each summer.
"We feel that at the church we want to bring people to church, to our grounds to say hey welcome to the community come and see us let's get to know each other a little better," said festival chairman Kim Busche.
The festival took take place at the church at 5 p.m. with food, drinks and live music.
