Two wrecks occur on Hwy 84 within minutes of each other

Four vehicles were involved in two separate collisions at the same location on Saturday at Hwy 84 and Eastview Drive.

The first wreck involved a passenger car and a van which was pulling a trailer. The driver of the passenger car was trapped in the vehicle due to the collision and had to be extricated by firefighters from Powers.

While emergency services were working the scene, a pickup truck was stopped in traffic due to the initial wreck and was hit from behind by another pickup truck. The driver of the second pickup truck that slammed into the back of the stopped truck sustained injuries and was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center. In total, three drivers were transported to South Central for treatment.

Units from Powers, Glade and M&M responded to the scene, including Powers Heavy Rescue, Powers Rescue 2, Powers Rescue 3, Powers Brush 1, Glade Brush 1 and M&M Rescue 1.

Multiple units from Mississippi Highway Patrol and Jones County Sheriff's Department also responded to the scene.
