Joe's Viewpoint: Mississippi Flood Relief

Joe Sciortino Joe Sciortino
PINE BELT (WDAM) -

The Pine Belt, like many communities across the South, experienced a tremendous amount of rain over the past two weeks.

The storms last week dropped as much as 16 inches of rain in some areas, causing flooding and requiring many families to vacate their homes.

As a news organization, we know that our job is to cover the severe weather and report on how the aftermath will affect you. But with the rains of a week ago behind us, we know that families in our communities are hurting.

That is why WDAM along with several other Raycom stations across the South are working with the Red Cross to help raise funds to assist these families in their recovery.

If you would like to help, please consider donating today by visiting this website or by texting RELIEF to 601777.

Together we can help our neighbors through this difficult time.

This is today’s Viewpoint.
