JASPER COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Headed into the state championship game against Ingomar, the Lady Oilers (2A) dominated regular season and post season play going 32-0.

Heidelberg maintained control early on and led the Falcons 25-14 at halftime.

Costly turnovers allowed Ingomar to get back within striking distance. The Falcons took the lead with just 1:25 left on the clock. With just 20 seconds left Heidelberg’s Keyara Jones sinks a long three ball to make it a one point game.

A turnover later the Lady Oilers had a chance to clinch the win, but after a missed layup this one ends in heartbreak. Ingomar ends the Lady Oilers dream season defeating them 41-40 and handing over Heidelberg’s first loss.

“We've had an awesome year and like I was telling them we've made a lot of history in Heidelberg," Heidelberg’s head coach Deneshia Faulkner said. “They really have no reason to hold their head down we sought out to get the gold ball but I think in the end we did something even more special. You live and learn you have to keep learning you can't look at it as a loss you have to look at it as a lesson learned it's something you can put in your pocket and use to your advantage next year.”

Luckily the Lady Oilers returns its top two scorers, Whitney Waters and Keyara Jones next season.
