This is a news release from the Hattiseburg Zoo.
The Hattiesburg Zoo is offering something fun for all Spring Breakers who can’t make it to the beach this year. ‘Better than the Beach Bash’ will be held from March 15th-20th at the Hattiesburg Zoo . Spring Break programming is included with the regular admission fee to the Zoo.
Beach-themed fun will take place all week, including specialty beach concessions and games, like a Hula Hoop competition, Bingo, egg race, relay races, and more. The Zoo will also offer crafts, enrichment activities, and guests can take photos at a special photo station. Special Animal Enrichment Activities and Keeper Chats will be held throughout the day and give Zoo guests the opportunity to learn from and interact with various Keepers at the Zoo.
Spring Break activities were originally planned to kick off on Saturday, March 12th, however due to weather conditions activities had to be postponed until March 15th.
“We always put the safety of our guests and animals first,” Mercey Livingston, Public Relations and Digital Media coordinator for the Hattiesburg Convention/Tourism Commissions, said. “We know our guests look forward to Spring Break fun at the Zoo every year. Unfortunately, we do have to close the Zoo in inclement weather conditions, but we are looking forward to reopening on Tuesday, and hopefully having the Splash Pad up and running for the rest of the week as well.”
One of the Zoo’s most popular attractions, the Splash Pad, is scheduled to reopen for Better than the Beach Bash.
“The Splash Pad is one of our most popular attractions and we are really excited to open it back up for our guests,” Livingston said. “We have been on Winter Hours through the beginning of March, so we are excited for the warmer weather and to see more guests come and enjoy all the Zoo has to offer.”
The Zoo will host Spring Break Programming during its normal operating days and times, Tuesday-Sunday from 10am-4pm. Cost of admission is $5 for adults and children 2 and up. Admission for children under 2 is free. For more information, click here.
