Suspect identified, sought in Lamar Co. armed robbery

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Authorities are searching for Jarrell Germaine Knight who has active warrants for armed robbery and is possibly connected to the Oak Grove Road robbery.

The scene

Lamar County authorities are investigating an armed robbery that happened on Oak Grove Road Thursday.

According to Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel, around noon, the Lamar Park Water & Sewer Association in the 2100 block of Oak Grove Road was robbed at gunpoint.

“The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a black jacket, black jeans, roughly 6 feet tall, possibly 175 pounds and wearing sunglasses,” Rigel said.

Rigel added the suspect was seen getting into a silver or grey mid-sized car, possibly a Chevy Impala.

“He parked behind the business complex and when he robbed the business, he exited the building and ran outside and jumped in the car and fled the scene,” Rigel said.

Members of the Hattiesburg Police Crime Scene Unit were brought in to process the scene during the investigation.

Rigel said the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, and no one was harmed during the robbery.
