HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Dozens of people ran or walked through downtown Hattiesburg Saturday morning to raise money for the Meals on Wheels program.

Christian Services, Inc. hosted the annual March for Meals 5K event.

That organization also coordinates the Hattiesburg area Meals on Wheels program, which delivers hundreds of meals each week to senior citizens or people with disabilities.

Event organizers said they hope more volunteers will help with the program.

"We can put you in the kitchen, we can put you behind the wheel of a vehicle to help deliver or just actually handing (out) that meal, so everyone can participate," said Catherine Jorns, director of outreach and ministry at Christian Services, Inc.

This was the second year for the March for Meals 5K.
