J.A. of Hattiesburg accepting applications for scholarships.

The following information is provided to WDAM 7 from the Junior Auxiliary of Hattiesburg.  Visit www.hattiesburgjuniorauxiliary.org for more details on the scholarship program.


Junior Auxiliary of Hattiesburg is a nonprofit organization whose members are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Hattiesburg area children and their families.  


 JA values education and provides scholarships to Outstanding area students each year. 


Scholarships are awarded based on participation in community activities, leadership, moral character, citizenship, scholastic achievement and educational goals.


High School seniors from our ten area schools are eligible to apply. Applications were sent to counselors at the following schools:
Hattiesburg High School, Oak Grove High School, North Forrest High School, Forrest County AHS, Petal High School, Sacred Heart High School, Sumrall High School, Purvis High School, Lamar Christian School, and Presbyterian Christian High School.

Applications must be postmarked on or before April 5, 2016. Our scholarship committee will review all applications & notify counselors of scholarship awards once decisions have been made.

    Markus Kittrell is well aware when people speak of Wayne County football, the assumption is the conversation will be of the public school War Eagles. Kitrell and his teammates would like to change that a bit this fall. “When you say Wayne County, everybody knows Wayne County High School, but it’s time for us to put it out there about Wayne Academy, where everybody will know about us,” said Kittrell, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound, two-way lineman for the Jaguars.
