MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Marion County Tax Assessor/Collector Vance Berry sent in his resignation letter to the Marion County Board of Supervisors Tuesday morning.
According to the Marion County Board of Supervisors press release, Berry's brief letter announced that he has resigned effective close of business, Feb. 29. He gave no reason for the resignation.
Berry took office Jan. 1, 2016.
According to the press release, the board of supervisors took action and appointed Dana Elzey as manager of the tax office until the board appoints an interim tax collector/assessor who will serve until a special election. The special election will be held in November.
