William Carey baseball sweeps double header with Calumet- St. Joseph

Hattiesburg, Miss.- William Carey University continued their strong play as they sweep Calumet College- St. Joseph in non-conference action Monday afternoon at Milton Wheeler Field.

In game one Sam Richard (JR/Jackson, MS) and Lake Robertson (FR/Hammond, LA) teamed up for a six hit shutout as WCU cruised to a 10-0 win.

Carey went to work in the bottom of the first inning pushing across two runs and added another in the third inning to open a 3-0 lead. In the fourth inning the Crusaders put the game away. After scoring two runs thanks to an error, WCU got an RBI double byTyler Odom (JR/Hattiesburg, MS), a two run single by Adrian Brown (JR/McComb, MS), and scored the final run of the six run inning on a wild pitch.

Carey added one last run in the fifth inning on a Nick Lowe (SR/Satsuma, AL) RBI single.

In game two the Crusaders scored early and often as they finished off the sweep with a 13-2 win.

Leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning, Odom capped a four run inning with a RBI triple to put WCU up 6-0. Leading 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning WCU finished off Calumet College- St. Joseph with a five run inning.

WCU is back in action on Wednesday as they host Marygrove College. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm at Milton Wheeler Field.
