FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Hub City man is behind bars after a Friday night shooting and armed robbery in Forrest County.
Forrest County Deputies responded to a call of a shooting just after 6 p.m. Friday night in the 7200 block of U.S. 49, at the Shell Station.
"When deputies arrived, they found a 25-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound," said Forrest County Investigator Nick Calico. "The victim was taken to a local hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries."
Kenyatta Stokes, 40, of Hattiesburg, was arrested by Forrest and Lamar County deputies a few hours after the shooting at a trailer park off West Hills Drive in Lamar County. Stokes was charged with armed robbery, and aggravated assault. Stokes was booked into the Forrest County Jail.
According to Calico, the shooting took place in a vehicle, and that vehicle fled the scene after the shooting.
"The investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are possible," said Calico. "We are also still looking for the vehicle that was involved in the shooting."
Calico said the vehicle authorities are looking for is a 1999 black GMC Sierra with the Mississippi license plate FS8-079.
