HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hundreds of Mississippi's best young minds gathered at The University of Southern Mississippi Friday to show off their science and engineering skills.

They took part in a science and engineering fair at the Thad Cochran Center.

About 300 students in grades 7-12 from nearly two dozen South Mississippi counties set up their projects to be judged.

Winners will participate in a state science and engineering competition in April.

The fair was hosted by the Center for Science and Mathematics Education and the Mississippi State Science & Engineering Fairs (MSEF-Region I).
