Lamar County bust lands 1 in jail, facing 20 felony charges

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Lamar County man is behind bars facing drug and weapon charges, after a search warrant led deputies to stolen guns and drugs.

Roy Lee Smith Jr., 34 of Purvis, was arrested Wednesday in the 900 block of WPA Road.

Smith was charged with sale of a controlled substance (heroin), possession with intent to distribute, four counts of possession of stolen firearms and 14 counts of possession of firearm by a convicted felon.

“Patrol received a tip from the public and deputies and our narcotics unit ran a search warrant and seized 14 guns, four which were stolen, heroin, marijuana and approximately $2,000 in cash,” Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel said.
