Traffic stop leads to arrest of wanted Missouri man

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A man is behind bars for bad checks after a traffic stop was conducted in Jones County Wednesday evening.

According to a press release from the Laurel Police Department, Sgt. Mitch Sumrall conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 15 North and stopped Richard D. Jackson, 30, for minor traffic offenses.

But during the stop, Sumrall discovered that Jackson was wanted on NCIC through Oregon County, Missouri, for felony bad checks, according to the release.

He is currently being held at the Jones County Jail, awaiting extradition.
