HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Holocaust survivor was in Hattiesburg Wednesday to attend a screening of a film about his life and to thank local World War II veterans who helped liberate Nazi concentration camps.
Leslie Schwartz, 86, attended a showing of "The Muhldorf Train of Death" at The University of Southern Mississippi.
It is a German TV documentary about his ordeal as a Nazi prisoner.
Schwartz also attended a reception in his honor at the African-American Military History Museum.
"So far, I've visited 1,000 high schools where I show my documentary film and speak to the students and we have questions and answers and the result has been extremely satisfactory," Schwartz said.
For the last four years, Schwartz has been touring Europe and the U.S. screening the film.
