Lee Tartt. Lee Tartt.
TISHOMINGO COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The officer that was killed in Tishomingo County Saturday morning has been identified.

According to Mississippi Department of Public Safety Public Affairs Director Warren Strain, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Agent Lee Tartt, 44, was killed in the line of duty Saturday morning.

Tartt was a 22-year law enforcement veteran and had been with MBN since September 2000, according to the statement.

He was the 2011 MBN Agent of the Year and received the H. Lane Caldwell Award of Valor in 2012.

Tartt is survived by his wife and two children.

Three other officers were injured in the incident, but their injuries are unknown at this time.

Seven On Your Side is aware that one of the injured officers may be from Laurel.

The Chronicle has identified the officer as Trea Staples. Seven On Your Side has called Brent Barfield with MHP's Troop J, and Strain. Neither would not confirm that Staples was one of the wounded officers, citing that it was against policy to name any of the injured officers.

Seven On Your Side will continue following this developing story and will provide updates as information is released.
