Forrest-Lamar GOP women receive update on human trafficking in MS

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A volunteer with an organization that raises awareness of human trafficking in Mississippi spoke about that issue Tuesday at a meeting of Forrest-Lamar Republican women in Oak Grove.

Dora Harbin, of Advocates for Freedom, discussed the frequency of human trafficking cases in South Mississippi in recent years.

She also gave tips on how to recognize victims and suggestions how the public can help stop it.

    Authorities are searching for the driver who hit a man on a Jones County road Tuesday night and then left the scene. It happened on Moselle-Seminary Road around 9:15 p.m. The victim was taken to the hospital, but we don't know his condition.  He could not describe the vehicle that struck him, but he told deputies that it kept on going.
