Pine Belt couples celebrate Valentine's day at Hattiesburg Waffle House

Waffles, hash browns, and a candle lit dinner for two. That is how many Pine Belt couple spent their Valentine's day meal at the Waffle House in Hattiesburg off Highway 98.

This is the ninth year Waffle House has offered Valentine's Day reservations and this is the first year the Hattiesburg location has participated.

The Southern chain decorated  the restaurant with hearts and balloons. The tables were also lit by candle light.

Hattiesburg Manager, Leonard McLeggon, said the restaurant had over 50 reservations.

"You know we're trying to promote the new feel of Waffle House," McLeggon said.

"You know, let everybody know that it's somewhere that you can come in and have lunch, breakfast, and dinner with a significant other."

Many couples said Waffle House offers great food and service at an affordable price.

"We've come everyday for the last two years," Customer Shawn Elkins.

"We figured instead of going somewhere expensive, low lit, and costs too much, we'd go somewhere that meant something to us."

The Waffle House off highway 98 is a 24 hour restaurant.
