Valentine's Day is just around the corner and flower shops are busier than ever.
At the Bellevue Florist shop roses were cut, flower arrangements were made and chocolates were on display. The owners Shelia and Mike Schneider said sales are higher this year than in 2015. Sales have also increased on a national level according to the National Retail Federation. People will spend an average of 146.84 dollars and total spending will add up to 19.7 billion. 1.9 million dollars will be spent on flowers and 4.4 billion will be spent on jewelry. Shelia Schneider said her favorite part about Valentine's Day is helping people find the perfect gift for their significant other.
“You feel like you can help somebody, especially the guys that come in with that deer in the headlight look,” said Schneider. “You can persuade them this way or that way or help them.”
Schneider said the shop is not usually open on Sunday but tomorrow they are making an exception for Valentine’s day.
