PETAL, MS (WDAM) -

Two hundred people came out on a cold morning Saturday in Petal to raise money for an organization that helps folks in the Friendly City.

They participated in the fourth annual Lighthouse Dash for the Petal Children's Task Force.

The 5K run and 2-mile walk began and ended at the Petal Civic Center.

About $26,000 was raised.  It will help families in the Petal School District.

"The money will be used at the task force," said Dee Dee Lowery, race director. "We help needy families in Petal with children in the Petal School District. We also help elderly families, we help them with food, school supplies, uniforms for the children. I think we served about 2,700 families with food, different families with food last year."

The Petal Children's Task Force was founded back in 1989.
