PINE BELT -

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is retracting a statement they released regarding the FBI investigating bomb threats that occurred across the state.

Mississippi Emergency Management Agency spokesman Greg Flynn told Seven On Your Side Wednesday morning that the federal government is taking the lead in the investigation. Flynn also gave the same statement to the Associated Press in an article.

Flynn called WDAM an hour later to retract that statement, and issued a correction. According to Flynn, the FBI is not investigating, but are aware of the situation. If local agencies contact them, they will assist.

FBI Special Agent Jason Pack issued a similar statement.

“The FBI is aware of the suspicious calls to several school systems throughout the state.  We have contacted the affected jurisdictions and offered any assistance they might need to help them as they look into the situation.  The cases are still local matters at this time.” – Special Agent Jason Pack

Seven school districts in the state received bomb threats Tuesday afternoon, including four Pine Belt schools.
