JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Jones County woman made her initial appearance for a child abuse charge Wednesday in Jones County Justice Court.

According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, Fanchon Rogers, 28 of Taylorsville, is behind bars for felonious child abuse.

Judge Howell Beech set her bond at $20,000.

On Jan. 19, the Department of Human Services received a call from a local hospital that a newborn had tested positive for methamphetamines. DHS sent JCSD a referral packet, and the mother tested positive for the same drug.

If convicted, Rogers could face a maximum of 10 years in prison, according to a news release from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
