Perry County shooting injures 1, investigation underway

PERRY COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Perry County authorities are investigating a late night shooting that injured one person.

According to Sheriff Mitch Nobles the shooting happened in the Little Creek area off Perry County, off Rosie Snell Road just before midnight Friday.

"We got a 911 call of a shooting and deputies responded to the scene," said Perry County Sheriff Mitch Nobles. "When deputies got on scene they were told the male shooting victim was taken to Forrest General in a personal vehicle."

Nobles added that investigators recovers multiple shell casings from the scene.

"It happened behind the residence on Rosie Snell Road, towards the wood line behind a bonfire that was going on," said Nobles.

No one is in custody at this time.

"This was an isolated incident that stemmed from people that did know one another," said Nobles.

According to Nobles, the male victim is in ICU but is listed in stable condition.
