Report: Lindsey, USM coaching candidate, staying at Arizona State

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Arizona State offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, who was believed to be a leading candidate to replace former Southern Miss Head football coach Todd Monken, is staying put at Arizona State according to a report.

Fox Sports Bruce Feldman reported Tuesday that Lindsey is "excited about his situation with ASU", and will remain with the Sun Devils. Lindsey his job as offensive coordinator at Southern Miss in December for the same position with the Sun Devils.

Southern Miss athletic Director Bill McGillis said Sunday after Monken announced his resignation that the athletic department hopes to have a new head coach in place by the end of the week.

Other potential leading candidates include current Southern Miss defensive coordinator David Duggan, and Alcorn State head coach Jay Hopson.
