Veterans Affairs Center opens in Sumrall

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A new branch of the Veterans Affairs office has opened in Lamar County.

The new office will be open every Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to a news release, the VA office will process Service Connected Disabilities that caused by active duty service or was connected to active duty service in some way.

Also, the office will service non-service connected pensions for veterans over the age of 65. This is includes housebound status, aid and attendance benefits, according to the news release. The office will also be providing assistance in filing for VA death pension by a widow.
