Dixie Electric sends service crews to Virginia

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from Dixie Electric Power Association

Dixie Electric Power Association, headquartered in Laurel, Miss. sent nine employees and equipment to Warsaw, Virginia to assist with power restoration due to the snow storm moving through the northeastern U.S.

Northern Neck Electric Cooperative, located in eastern Virginia, requested assistance, so Dixie Electric sent service crews, which consist of two linemen and a small bucket truck.

"We are happy to assist with power restoration when called upon. I'm appreciative of the electric cooperative network, and the linemen that have assisted us in the past," General Manager Randy Smith said.

Dixie Electric Power Association serves 38,500 accounts in a seven county area in south Mississippi, including Jones, Wayne, Perry, Forrest, Covington, Clarke and Jasper counties.
