One injured in multi-vehicle accident on I-59

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A multi-vehicle wreck on I-59 past US 98 sent one person to the hospital Thursday morning.

The wreck happened around 6:50 a.m. just past the 65 B exit.

There were as many as seven cars involved in the wreck, according to Lt. Jon Traxler with the Hattiesburg Police Department. 

Traxler said the pile-up was the result of two separate accidents in the same location.

According to Traxler, all involved sustained minor cuts and bruises, but one person did leave the scene in an ambulance with minor injuries.

Traffic is now moving slowly in both northbound lanes.

Commuters are urged to use caution in this area until the scene is clear.
