Newk's Eatery's Online Academy, built on HotSchedules Train, earns 2016 Applied Technology Award from QSR

AUSTIN, TX -

This is a news release from HotSchedules

HotSchedules®, a leading provider of mobile technology for the restaurant and hospitality industries, was recognized in QSR Magazine's 2016 Applied Technology Awards. Newk's Eatery's Online Academy, an employee education platform built on HotSchedules Train, was one of three winners in the Crew-Facing Tech category. QSR Magazine commended the fast-casual restaurant brand for investing in employee education and career advancement during an era of particularly high turnover across the limited-service industry.

Mississippi-based Newk's Eatery launched its Online Academy in September 2014 using HotSchedules Train, a social, mobile, cloud-based learning management system powered by Schoox. The Online Academy educates team members — from hourly partners to area directors — about the culture, standards and core processes that drive the brand. Newk's employees can access the interactive and digital learning content via a computer or mobile device. The comprehensive e-learning experience includes hands-on training, coursework, tests and instructional videos "that nurture professional development," as QSR commented, and allow management teams to closely support the progress of their staff. Today, more than 5,000 employees use Newk's Online Academy across the brand's more than 95 restaurants nationwide.

"It's rewarding to see our technology play a pivotal role in career development and culture at Newk's Eatery," said Carmel Ibrahim, National Account Executive at HotSchedules. "They're using HotSchedules Train to champion restaurant jobs as meaningful, long-term careers. That is exactly how we intended to see the platform used. We wish to congratulate Newk's for earning this award and pioneering the future of education in the QSR space."

Today, nearly a million restaurant employees use HotSchedules Train to thrive and advance in their careers. To learn more about the platform, visit HotSchedules.com.
