PETAL, MS (WDAM) - A pair of Hattiesburg residents are behind bars after a manhunt in Forrest County.
Buddy Rooker, 29, and Casandra Hills, 34, both of Hattiesburg, were arrested after they fled from a traffic stop near the Highway 11 overpass at the Evelyn Gandy Parkway.
According to authorities, the traffic stop was initiated after a deputy realized the vehicle was stolen.
Hills was taken into custody immediately following the traffic stop, and Rooker fled into a wooded area on foot. After assistance from Petal Police and the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Rooker was taken into custody.
Rooker was booked into the Forrest County jail and charged with resisting arrest, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct.
Hill was also booked and charged with receiving stolen property.
