Suspect charged in Hub City stabbing

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

UPDATE: Police have charged a 16 year-old female in the Friday stabbing incident that injured hospitalized a Hub City man.

Brianna Green, 16, was charged with burglary and domestic violence-aggravated assault in connection to the altercation in the 300 block of South 12th Avenue.

Previous Story: 

An early morning stabbing sent two people to a hospital in the Hub City. The victim is currently in the ICU and listed in stable condition per the Hattiesburg Police Department. 

Police responded to a burglary in progress call in the 300 block of South 12th Avenue just after 5 a.m. 

"When officers arrived they found a male suffering from multiple stab wounds inside the house," Hattiesburg Police Lt. Detective Branden McLemore said. "That victim is at Forrest General in surgery at this time." 

Police surrounded two homes with crime scene tape side by side in the 300 block.

The front porch of the home next door to where the victim was found had blood stains smeared across the door and wall. 

"A female from the scene was also taken by ambulance for being under the influence who is believed to be involved," McLemore said. "She is under police supervision at Forrest General." 

The person that prompted the burglary in progress call was allegedly involved with the stabbing, according to McLemore. 

He added there is no danger of a burglary suspect at this time, but the investigation is still ongoing.

According to McLemore the incident appears to be domestic related, but the scene is still under the investigation.
