Hub City bust nets drugs, guns; 1 jailed

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The 12th Net Metro Narcotics Unit ran a search warrant at a house located on Arcadia Street in Hattiesburg Thursday afternoon. 

At the house, the team found more than one ounce of marijuana, and 30 doses and 9 grams of heroin, according to Narcotics Agent Nick Calico.

Nashid Abdur Rahim was arrested on site and charged with 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, one count conspiracy to sell a controlled substance and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Calico.

"We just encourage citizens if they have any concerns to contact us if there is any kind of illegal activity going on," Calico said. "We are just here to help the citizens and do everything we can to rid the streets of the drugs."

    The University of Southern Mississippi ended Saturday’s regular-season baseball finale at Marshall University the same way it started, with a bang. The 18th-ranked Golden Eagles sent 13 batters to the plate in both the second and ninth innings, scoring eight runs in each, as USM finished off a first-ever sweep of the Thundering Herd on its home turf with a 18-9 victory at Epling Stadium.
