President Obama announced Tuesday a fresh batch of executive orders that he said are meant to reduce gun crime.
Senators Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) released statements Tuesday regarding gun control and see this as an infringement on the Second Amendment.
Cochran released the following statement:
"I remain committed to protecting our Second Amendment rights and to ensuring that the federal government plays no role in any misguided gun control initiatives that restrict a law-abiding individual's constitutional right to bear arms."
Wicker also released a similar statement:
"No president of the United States has the power to infringe on the rights granted by the Second Amendment. Congress and the courts should promptly step in to reverse this executive overreach."
