Several public servants were sworn in Monday in Forrest County.
Among them was Jon Mark Weathers, the new judge for the 12th Circuit Court District.
The new position was created to speed up the docket and lighten the caseload on Judge Bob Helfrich.
“(We) will be dividing the docket up between myself and Judge Helfrich,” Weathers said. “We've agreed on how we're going to do that. End up with about 750 cases that you knew nothing about. Trying to figure out how to get them moving. And then getting ready for the new cases that come in on a monthly basis.”
Weathers said he was ready to go to work Monday, despite his office not being completed yet.
Weathers won 54 percent of the vote against two other candidates in the November election.
