New Year begins with new births in the Pine Belt

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The first baby of 2016 born at Forrest General Hospital is a 5 pound, 14 ounce girl who has already been given the nickname, "Lucy" by her family.
Ri'lon Pearl Jordan was born at 2:20 p.m. Friday.

Her parents are Fallon Hartfield, 27, of Perry County and Richard Jordan, 31, of Jasper County.

Nurses said both mother and baby are doing well.

And earlier Friday, Merit Health Wesley had its first baby of the new year. The child's father, Andrew Key, of Collins, said his baby boy, Andrew Aiden, was born at 12:53 a.m. He weighed seven pounds, 14 ounces.  He and mother, Charla King, are also doing well.

    The Mississippi Attorney General has joined a lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission's rollback of net neutrality.
