Lumberton mayoral race to be decided by affidavit ballots

LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) -

The Lumberton mayoral run-off election was held Tuesday. The race will be decided by the affidavit ballots. 

Kent Crider had 197 votes and Jonathan Griffith had 192 votes, with 12 affidavit ballots remaining to be counted within the next five working days.

Former Lumberton Mayor Ben Winston resigned Nov. 4. He has served as mayor since he defeated Miriam Holder in 2013. 

Crider currently serves as Ward 1 alderman, and Griffith writes for the Lumberton Informer blog.
