HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

People across the Pine Belt were busy Saturday, taking part in a Yuletide tradition almost as old as putting up a tree or serving turkey. They were at the shopping centers, looking for great Christmas sales or making exchanges or returns.

The Turtle Creek Mall was packed with shoppers Saturday afternoon.

Some people didn't mind the crowds, while others thought it was a bit too busy.

"It's crowded, it's really crowded," said shopper Virginia Lewis. "I didn't anticipate it to be this crowded, but it's very crowded."

The crowds (are) pretty good today," said John Garner, another shopper. "I figured it would have been a lot busier, but it's doing pretty good."

Garner was among the shoppers returning some clothing.
