Two shootings land Hattiesburg man behind bars

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg man is behind bars in connection to a pair of shootings in the Hub City.

Ronnie Turner, 36, was arrested early this morning by members of the FBI Gang Task Force and members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force at Regency Inn in Hattiesburg.

Turner was previously indicted on two separate cases, both involving shooting incidents in the Hub City.

Turner’s first indictment was in relation to a June 16, 2014, shooting that injured one person. That indictment was for aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

The second indictment was in relation to a May 15, 2015, shooting that injured one person in the 400 block of East 7th Street.  This indictment was for aggravated assault, criminal street gang activity and conspiracy.

According to court records, Turner did willfully, knowingly and unlawfully, and feloniously participate or assist in the commission of illegal gang activity, to wit; commit aggravated assault on a rival gang member.

Tuner was previously convicted of auto burglary on May 19, 1998, in Forrest County Circuit Court.
