On Monday, the Forrest County Board of Supervisors approved a check for $100,000 to the Area Development Partnership.
The money will go to help get the Eagle One mega-site mitigated and permitted through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
This move helps put the proposed 2,200 acre site a step closer to attracting new industrial development from a major manufacturer.
The site will be located just west of the Interstate 59 near the Highway 98 East intersection.
Both Forrest and Lamar County are in a joint partnership in the development of the area.
Forrest County Board President said the closer they get to make the property “shovel ready” the more competitive the property will be to prospective manufacturers.
The Lamar County Board of Supervisors has already put in their $100,000 toward the project.
