Authorities say Prentiss woman found in drainage ditch improving

PRENTISS, MS (WDAM) -

A Prentiss woman continues to recover at a local hospital after being left for dead in a drainage ditch last week.

Chief Joseph Bullock of the Prentiss Police Department said 39-year-old Crystal Smith has had several surgeries and her condition is improving. 

Smith was found after witnesses reported seeing a woman's body in a drainage ditch around Rails to Trails in Prentiss.

Authorities said the investigation into how she ended up there is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
