Southern Miss Athletics announces fan events for Heart of Dallas Bowl

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

This is a press release from The University of Southern Mississippi.

The Southern Miss Department of Athletics announced fan events during the Golden Eagles’ stay in the Dallas area this week.

The Southern Miss fan headquarters will be RJ Mexican Cuisine (1701 N. Market St.) and will offer discounts throughout the week for Golden Eagles fans.

Here is a listing of the events set to be held in Dallas for Golden Eagle fans:

2015 Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl Game Event Schedule:

Monday, Dec. 21

5:30-7p.m.: Southern Miss Social at RJ Mexican Cuisine

(1701 N. Market St., Dallas, Texas)

            -Director of Athletics Bill McGillis, Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl representatives and Southern Miss athletic staff members will be on hand

Friday, Dec. 25
10:30 a.m.: Holiday Worship with Southern Miss FCA Director Mitch Williams
* Non-denominational worship (Open event – casual attire)
(Dallas Ballroom C – Omni Hotel, 3rd floor)

6:30-10 p.m.: Southern Miss gathering at the Owner’s Box Sports Bar

(Omni Hotel- 555 South Lamar Street, Dallas, Texas)

                                                                                                                          

Saturday, Dec. 26

10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Southern Miss Tailgate at the Cotton Bowl sponsored by the Eagle Club, Southern Miss Alumni Association and USM Foundation

            -Food and drinks will be provided while supplies last. 

11 a.m.: Eagle Walk at the Cotton Bowl

1:20 p.m.: Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl Kickoff

    The University of Southern Mississippi ended Saturday’s regular-season baseball finale at Marshall University the same way it started, with a bang. The 18th-ranked Golden Eagles sent 13 batters to the plate in both the second and ninth innings, scoring eight runs in each, as USM finished off a first-ever sweep of the Thundering Herd on its home turf with a 18-9 victory at Epling Stadium.

    A man is recovering from injuries after he claims he was beaten by officers with the Laurel Police Department. Thirty-six-year-old James Barnett indicated the incident took place on Tuesday, May 15.
