Around 15 families got to celebrate Christmas a little early thanks to some Laurel firemen.
The Laurel Fire Department hosted its second annual Shop with a Fireman events, thanks in part to Howard Industries, Walmart and Salvation Army.
Almost 30 kids went around Walmart shopping for $100 worth of toys.
The firemen wanted to give back to the community and have a connection with the kids other than in an emergency situation.
"It's helping me a lot. We were having a hard year, and we're counting our blessings," said Miranda Page, a mother of one of the children receiving gifts. "This one was right on time."
The names were given to the fire department from the Salvation Army and its Angel Tree Program, and they hope to continue this tradition in 2016.
"It is important for us to be out here today because we can get back with the community and show the community that we are interested and involved in many ways other than in an emergency situation," said James Brown, Laurel Fire Chief.
