Hattiesburg Zoo receives corporate sponsorship for new 'Safari Grill'

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Visitors to the Hattiesburg Zoo will soon enjoy a greater variety of food and beverages, thanks to a Hattiesburg business.

Next spring, the zoo will open the new Safari Grill on the site of the old concession stand.

It will be three times larger and it will have an expanded menu.

A new deck overlooking the zoo's lake will also be part of the project.

Keithco Petroleum is funding the construction with a $45,000 sponsorship.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday morning.

The opening date is set for March 1.

    Hattiesburg police are searching for a larceny suspect after a woman allegedly stole money from a man's wallet as he paid for items at a gas station.  The incident happened at the Jr. Food Mart at 1000 Main Street on Sunday, May 20, around 7:20 p.m., according to HPD Spokesman Ryan Moore. The customer said he put his wallet down on the counter while paying for items when a customer behind him took money from the wallet.  If you have any information on the identity of ...More >>
