Merit Health Wesley opens rheumatology clinic

Merit Health Medical Group is proud to introduce rheumatologist Harmanjot K. Grewal, M.D. and announce the opening of a new Rheumatology clinic, located at 200 West Hospital Drive.

Dr. Grewal is a graduate of the University of Toronto and attended medical school at the Medical University of the Americas, West Indies. She completed her internal medicine residency and clinical rheumatology fellowship at Louisiana State University, New Orleans. Grewal was actively involved in teaching and research at Louisiana State University, New Orleans as assistant professor of clinical medicine in addition to working at her rheumatology practices in both New Orleans and Kenner Louisiana. She is Board-Certified in both rheumatology and internal medicine and is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians.

"We're excited to welcome Dr. Grewal to Hattiesburg and continue providing specialized care to our community," said Mike Neuendorf, CEO of Merit Health Wesley. "Her expertise in this rare and much-needed specialty will greatly benefit our patients and community, providing relief for those who suffer from serious rheumatic diseases."

Dr. Grewal will offer treatment of and specialty care for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, osteoporosis, gout, bursitis and tendonitis as well as other rheumatic diseases. Other services include diagnostic and therapeutic injections, diagnostic arthroscopy and education on rheumatic diseases and treatments.

"Rheumatologic conditions cover a broad spectrum of diseases which can be debilitating if left untreated" said Dr. Grewal. "Our goal for this clinic is to help people manage their conditions so that they can get back to enjoying life."

    The University of Southern Mississippi ended Saturday’s regular-season baseball finale at Marshall University the same way it started, with a bang. The 18th-ranked Golden Eagles sent 13 batters to the plate in both the second and ninth innings, scoring eight runs in each, as USM finished off a first-ever sweep of the Thundering Herd on its home turf with a 18-9 victory at Epling Stadium.
