LPD arrests woman for neglect of a vulnerable person

LAUREL, MS -

A woman is behind bars and is facing one count of exploitation of a vulnerable person, according to the Laurel Police Department.

On Monday around 11 a.m., Pamela Jordan was arrested in the 2800 block of Old Amy Road by LPD officer Mitch Sumrall.

Jordan’s charges stemmed from a larceny/fraud report filed with LPD on Dec. 11, according to an LPD press release.

She had her initial appearance in Laurel Municipal Court Monday. Her bond was set at $20,000.

According to LPD, a previous felony bond was revoked and Jordan is being held at the Jones County Jail.

    The University of Southern Mississippi ended Saturday’s regular-season baseball finale at Marshall University the same way it started, with a bang. The 18th-ranked Golden Eagles sent 13 batters to the plate in both the second and ninth innings, scoring eight runs in each, as USM finished off a first-ever sweep of the Thundering Herd on its home turf with a 18-9 victory at Epling Stadium.

    A man is recovering from injuries after he claims he was beaten by officers with the Laurel Police Department. Thirty-six-year-old James Barnett indicated the incident took place on Tuesday, May 15.
