A University of Southern Mississippi student made his initial appearance in Hattiesburg Municipal Court Monday.
Edward Anthony Rahaim, 20, a junior from Hattiesburg was arrested Friday in connection with an incident that occurred at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house on the Hattiesburg campus, according to a USM press release.
Rahaim is charged with one count of sexual battery and being held at the Forrest County Regional Jail. His bond is set at $20,000.
According to University Police Chief Bob Hopkins, members of the fraternity reported to the incident to UPD. Hopkins said there is an ongoing investigation and commended those who reported the incident to UPD, according to the press release.
The Southern Miss Dean of Students office placed Rahaim on interim suspension and he will remain on interim suspension until the completion of the student conduct process, according to the press release.
