Power overload temporarily knocks out Lewis Lights

PURVIS, MS (WDAM) - For the first time ever, a popular holiday light display in Purvis that attracts thousands of visitors each year has gone dark.

But, it is only temporary.

The Lewis Lights on White Chapel Road have been turned off due to an electrical overload that blew out a meter box Wednesday night.

No one was hurt, but family member Deboarah Lewis said the lights will stay off until repairs can be made.

She hopes to have them back on by Saturday night.

She said you can check their Facebook page for updates.

For 26 years, the family has invited folks to tour their display, which includes 200,000 lights and dozens of pieces of original artwork.
