LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds of students at one Lamar County school are getting a head start learning computer science, thanks to a new grant.
More than 700 Oak Grove Longleaf Elementary students are participating in the Hour of Code program with a grant of $10,000 from Code.org.
The Hour of Code is an introduction to computer science. It is a worldwide initiative to teach the basics of computer code at a young age.
Longleaf Elementary was the only school in Mississippi to receive the grant.
