Today's viewpoint: International Day of Giving

Joe Sciortino Joe Sciortino

Friday was Black Friday, yesterday was Cyber Monday and today is the International Day of Giving. As I have stated before and it is documented by the Secretary of State’s office, the people of Mississippi are some of the most giving in our nation.

With over 1300 charities in Mississippi, hundreds of millions of dollars are raised each year, which is truly amazing and generous.

And with all of this charitable giving, we want to be sure your donations are going to a good cause. This is why we recommend you check your charity before you give. All charities are required to be registered with the state and a full list of those charities can be found on the secretary of state website at sos.ms.gov. I am proud to live in a state that is known for giving.

This is today’s Viewpoint.
