Southern Pines Animal Shelter hosts free pet adoption weekend special

HATTIESBURG, MS -

There’s no better way to kick off the holidays than by saving a life.

The Southern Pines Animal Shelter is partnering with the Best Friends Animal Society, an organization focused on stopping the killing of pets in shelters, for a free pet adoption weekend.

The event is a part of a Black Friday weekend special.

The shelter has completed more than 140 adoptions since the special began Friday, November 27.

“It’s a record for the shelter,” Shelter Director Ginny Sims said.

“This is our first adoption event of this kind this year and it's one that we’ve really enjoyed doing and we hope that it will be a reality in years to come.”

The special has generated a lot of excitement in the community.

“We’ve had people lined up outside the gate everyday of the special,” Sims said.

“It’s really given us the chance to get people who’ve never been here before through the gates to meet these pets and take them home.”

All adoptions include: age appropriate vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, 30 days of pet health insurance, and a bag of food.

The special ends Monday, November 30.
